Privacy Policy

Your information

Last updated

This policy explains what personal information VlogsMedia collects when you use vlogsmedia.com, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what your rights are. We collect as little as we can: you can read the whole site without telling us who you are.

Who we are

VlogsMedia (“we”, “us”) runs vlogsmedia.com and is responsible for the personal information described here. You can contact us about anything in this policy at info@vlogsmedia.com.

What we collect

When you contact us

If you use the contact form or email us, we receive your name, your email address, the topic you choose and your message. The form also records the IP address it was sent from, so that we can block spam and abuse.

When you comment

If you comment on an article, we store your name, your email address and your comment. Comments are checked before they appear. Only your name and your comment are published — never your email address.

When you browse

Like most websites, the servers that host VlogsMedia keep technical logs of the requests made to the site. These include your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, and your browser type. They are used to keep the site running and secure.

Cookies

VlogsMedia sets two cookies, both strictly necessary for the site to work:

  • vlogsmedia-session — keeps a form working between pages, for example so that a “message sent” note or an error can be shown. It expires after two hours.
  • XSRF-TOKEN — protects our forms against cross-site request forgery. It expires after two hours.

We do not currently use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. If we add any, we will update this page first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent before they are set.

When you click an affiliate link and arrive on a retailer’s site, that retailer — and the affiliate network, if one is involved — may set their own cookies to record that you came from us. Those cookies are covered by their privacy policies, not this one.

Services that receive data when you visit

  • Hosting. The site is hosted by Hostinger, which processes the server logs described above on our behalf.
  • Google Fonts. Our typefaces are loaded from Google’s servers, which receive your IP address and browser details when a page loads. See Google’s privacy policy.
  • Instagram. Where we show our latest Instagram posts, the images load from Instagram’s servers (operated by Meta), which receive your IP address when they load.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

  • To reply to your message and deal with what you asked about — our legitimate interest in running the publication and responding to readers.
  • To publish and moderate comments — our legitimate interest in hosting reader discussion.
  • To keep the site secure and stop spam — our legitimate interest in protecting the site and its readers.
  • To meet legal obligations, where we have them.

We do not use your information for marketing, we do not make automated decisions about you, and we do not sell or share your personal information, including as those terms are used in California law.

Who we share it with

Only the service providers listed above, who process it on our behalf, and anyone we are legally required to disclose it to. If VlogsMedia were ever sold or transferred, this information would pass to the new owner on the same terms as this policy.

International transfers

Our hosting provider and Google may process data in countries other than your own, including outside the UK and the European Economic Area. Where they do, they rely on recognised safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

  • Messages: for as long as we need them to deal with what you asked, and no longer than 12 months after our last reply, unless the law requires us to keep them.
  • Comments: for as long as the comment is published, or until you ask us to remove it. Comments we do not publish are deleted within 12 months.
  • Server logs: for a short period set by our hosting provider.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format.

You also have the right to object, at any time, to our use of your information where we rely on legitimate interests.

To use any of these rights, email info@vlogsmedia.com or choose “Privacy or data request” on the contact form. We will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to a data protection authority: in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113); in the European Union, the authority in your country. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Children

VlogsMedia is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served only over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, our forms are protected against forgery and spam, and access to messages and comments is limited to our editorial desk. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care to protect what you send us.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update the date at the top of this page.
