Affiliate Disclosure

How we make money

Last updated

The short version

Some links on VlogsMedia are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the retailer pays us a commission. You pay the same price you would have paid anyway. Commission never decides what we cover, what we recommend or the order we put things in.

How affiliate links work

We join affiliate programmes run by retailers and brands, either directly or through affiliate networks. When you follow one of our links, the retailer’s site records that you arrived from VlogsMedia, usually with a cookie. If you buy within the retailer’s tracking period, we receive a percentage of the sale or a fixed fee. We never see your payment details or your contact details.

How you can tell

  • Articles that contain affiliate links say so in a disclosure box at the top, before the first link.
  • Those links are marked rel="sponsored" in the page code, which tells search engines they are commercial.
  • “Get deal” and coupon buttons on our coupon and store pages are affiliate links.

What affiliate links do not change

  • No brand or network pays to appear in an article, chooses our topics or sees a piece before it is published.
  • A product that pays us well does not get a better verdict, and we include products that earn us nothing when they are the better choice.
  • The price you pay is the same whether or not you use our link.

Sponsored content and free products

We do not publish articles that a brand has paid for. If that ever changes, the piece will be labelled “Sponsored” in its title and at the top of the page. If a brand gives us a product to look at, the article will say so.

Why we tell you

Because you should know when someone could profit from your decision. It is also required: the US Federal Trade Commission and the UK Advertising Standards Authority both expect affiliate relationships to be made clear to readers.
